Food Hygiene

Keep your food and its surroundings pure and clean.

Why do I need Food Hygiene Training?

If you own a food business of any type, or regularly work with food, you have a responsibility to ensure that you and your staff have the appropriate level of training required by law. All food handlers must receive appropriate supervision and food hygiene training, enabling them to handle food safely.

Those responsible for developing and maintaining the business’s food safety procedures, based on HACCP principles, must have received adequate training. The requirements for training should be seen in the context of the nature and size of the business.

The Environmental Health Officer will ensure that all food handlers are appropriately trained. If you or your staff have not successfully completed 2-3 hours of food hygiene training, you will be at risk of failing your Environmental Health Officer inspection.

What if I’m not running a Food Business?

Food Hygiene is not strictly for those who work in the food business, anyone is eligible to complete the course. It is always beneficial to have basic knowledge of food hygiene, to practice where-ever you are; at home, in work etc.
